Hurn Museum

Guidelines for using the Hurn Museum forum are designed to make it easy and inviting to everyone.  Please note that these rules can change without notice.  Museum moderators will review posts and determine if there is a violation and take appropriate action if necessary, which can include deleting the post, banning the user for severe repeat offenses, moving the post to a more appropriate topic, etc.  We want to add to the wealth of knowledge that everyone can bring to this Museum, so please keep that in mind when considering what you want to post.

RULE #:

1. RESPECT!  Please no offensive language, disrespect, blog bullying, obscene content, etc.  We understand that art can bring emotional responses in people, good as well as bad, but there are ways to express the facts in a peaceful manner.

2. NO MARKETING OR SPAMMING.  We are a museum, not a gallery where you can buy and sell art.  As such, we strive to bring to the public a world of art that cannot be purchased.  Please do not use this forum to sell your art, or have links to galleries/auctions/stores/etc. where artwork is purchased and/or sold.  This includes “free” items (promoting an offer using free iPods, LCDs, etc.).  Posting links to outside Websites will be considered spam.  Discussing outside Websites will be open to the interpretation of the forum moderators.

3. STAY ON TOPIC.  Please use the appropriate topic when writing your post.  This is not a deal breaker, but will make it easier for the museum to moderate what is being said verses where it’s being said.  It will prevent the moderators from having to move it based on their view of where it should be if it is in a place that it obviously shouldn’t be.  If there isn’t a topic that accurately reflects what you want to post, don’t be afraid to create one, or contact us to create a new category.  Please do not cross post (posting the same thing in different categories).

4. CONTACTING US.  If you wish to ask a specific question to the museum staff or forum moderators that doesn’t concern the general public or anyone using this forum, don’t post it here.  Instead, use the contact page to make your inquiries.  If you have a question regarding material that might be in violation of these rules, whether it is your material you want to post, or someone else’s that you see in the forums, please use the contact page to let us know.

5. NO ILLEGAL OR COPYRIGHT-INFRINGING MATERIAL.  It is the user’s responsibility to know what they are posting, and make sure that it does not violate any local, domestic, or international laws.

6. PRIVACY.  This forum is governed by the Privacy Policy of the Hurn Museum found on this Website.  Users of this forum are responsible for the personal information they post, or provide to the public through the use of Avatars, signatures, or other personally identifiable pieces of information from their registered account they choose the share (e.g., user name, full name, E-Mail address, etc).  The Hurn Museum is not responsible for information posted by its registered users and guests.

Posts in this forum do not represent the views of the Hurn Museum and as such, the Hurn Museum is not responsible for information provided in this forum.  As the forum grows, more issues will be identified and these rules will evolve to encompass changes that need to be made, so please check back and review these rules periodically.  Thank you, and happy posting!
